We like to spend the day poolside, overindulging and overlooking the Sea with our elbows propped on the edge watching the waves break just below. We might venture down the beach and walk along the most expensive real estate development in Mexico called El Dorado. Or walk up the beach and explore the rocky alcoves and tidal pools. Today is a record-breaking event. Super yacht Octopus just rolled into our bay, smashing the record as the largest private super yacht to ever sail into our bay. The previous record was Yacht A mere 390 feet and is now the second-largest yacht after Octopus at a whopping 414 ft. She is one of the largest private vessels in the world and has an interesting backstory.

Octopus has eight enormous decks, including a private owners’ deck, Octopus can host up to 26 lucky individuals in 13 staterooms and has a crew of 63 spread across 30 cabins. Entertainment facilities include several bars, a spa, library, cinema, gym, basketball court and multiple lounges. It has two helicopter pads on the main deck: a twin pad and hangars at the stern and a single pad on the bow; and a 43-foot tender docked in the transom and a landing craft. The latest superyacht to visit Cabo is The Aquila. With an impressive size of 280’ she is not the largest yacht but is one of the most beautiful to grace our busy bay. This is a rare American-built super yacht and is the largest built sine 1930. The majestic presence is built by Derecktor who unveiled her as Cakewalk before the Walmart family purchased her for a mere $150m and did a massive remodel in 2016. Aquila also boasts a beach club deck complete with DJ booth, AV system, smoke machine and light show. Inside, a cool, calm and contemporary interior creates an aura of tranquillity. Icy silvers, dark browns peppered with nickel and clean whites are accented with patterned soft furnishings and tasteful lighting. The focal piece of the yacht though has to be the 11.2-metre ‘waterfall’ chandelier which cascades down four levels from the sun deck down to the lower deck creating shards of light across the white marble floor.

In any event it is a pleasure to watch these super yachts in the Cabo Bay. This season we have seen so many including La Datcha and the new record holder Octopus owned by Roger Samuelsson, founder of SHL Healthcare a swedish big pharma billionaire. Go figure.

In today’s episode we bring you 15 essential restaurants in Cabo San Lucas. This is a list of our most favorite dining and drinking establishments. There are so many other great restaurants besides these 15 and it was difficult to choose so few. San Jose del Cabo has so many great choices as well so these are featured in a separate video. We decided to leave out all resort restaurants and encourage you to venture out and try these amazing dining establishments.

Lets remember the fun of traveling is to see new places and cultures. Los Cabos is one of the safest destinations in the world so be sure to get out and about and enjoy this gorgeous desert on the sea. Let’s begin.

Edith’s is one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Los Cabos. They combine fresh Baja seafood with quality cuts of beef and add a Guerrean twist for an authentic Mexican experience. Most everyone that has ever been to Cabo has experienced Edith’s as it is a landmark restaurant. The surprising thing is they have been able to consistently bring such great quality and service for so long without compromising. A true testament to the owner Edith Jimènez who started off as a waitress and later bought the restaurant located just above Medano Beach. Insider’s tip- if you can not get a reservation or are looking for a quieter version book at their Tres Sirenas restaurant right across the street.

Next up we take you to Nicksan Sushi. Nicksan is another long time favorite that has been a consistent winner for over 26 years. Located in downtown Cabo within walking distance to all the nightlife. Enjoy the unique culinary approach of Angel Carbajal the inspiration behind Nicksan gastronomic style. Layers and textures blend the traditional with the spices and character of Mexico. We have been enjoying this gem for over 18 years and can honestly say we have never been disappointed. Sit at the bar and watch the action or book a table for your lucky friends. Insider’s tip- be sure to order a round or two of their Tuna Tostada appetizer.

Alcaravea Gourmet is located a few short blocks from the marina and has slowly grown to one of the top Mediterranean style restaurants in the Baja. Owner and head chef Enrique Gerard is one of the hardest working guys in the business. His love of his craft is evident in the flavors and quality of his food and equally in the service of his staff. He is a beloved fixture that takes the time to personally welcome you to his humble and stylish restaurant. Insider’s tip- The three course lunch special is a great bargain and always delicious

El Huerto Restaurant is a new farm to table experience that has become a go to choice for those who have discovered this lovely organic option. Located a few miles east of Cabo it is well worth the effort. Their goals are to combine the best local organic ingredients, to produce simple, healthy, great tasting food that can be enjoyed in a family friendly farm to table setting. Come for breakfast, lunch or dinner and be sure to shop their Saturday market.

The Office on the Beach is the original toes in the sand restaurant on Medano Beach. Funny name but serious food experience. The fresh salsa keeps us coming back. The festive atmosphere at lunch and dinner is contagious and has been a favorite for most every Cabo Lover. The service is extraordinary and the dinner shows are always fun. Insider’s tip- their breakfast is one of the best in town and moderately priced. Order the machaca or the local ranch made chorizo con huevos.

Now we take you to a locals secret Mariscos las Tres Islas is a favorite serving Baja and Mazatlan style seafood for over 20 years. With dozens of superb Mariscos Restaurants to choose it was not easy picking just one. Baja seafood restaurants are ubiquitous and you can hardly go wrong at any number them. Tres Islas is constantly busy with the locals and priced well so you know the catch is always fresh. So whether you crave chocolaté clams, whole red snapper, fresh oysters on the half shell or a nice large serving of ceviches with tostadas your serving will be large and the check will be small.

Right across the street is Maria Jimenez’s. This is a true Mexican restaurant and as authentic as you can get. This is another family owned and operated casa turned restaurant with amazing salsas and with friendly local servers. Try the Carne Adobada, Grand Sopes, Polo en Mole or Enchiladas Divorciados. Insider’s Tip- be sure to try our personal favorite Chile Rellenos traditional.

Solomon’s Landing is perfect for those looking for a marina side restaurant that is active and tons of fun. Featured in the hit TV show Diner’s Drive ins and Dives, Brian Solomon and his talented daughter Sam are always tweaking the menu to bring a wide variety of Mexican, seafood, steaks and classic breakfast favorites. They feature live music and a monthly wine pairing events. They added a great sushi area next door. You can sit at the comfortable center bar or reserve a table with a marina view. Insider’s Tip- the cream cheese stuffed french toast always brings you joy.

Next up is Los Tres Gallos Cocina Artisenal de Mexicana. This is home style Mexican food proudly served in a lovely shaded terrace. The tradition of family recipes handed down from many generations is the core value of this fine establishment. Start off with a wide selection of tasty appetizers including Tortilla Soup or Gorditas. Enjoy the very best enchiladas, Pescadas Ajillas o Veracruzana or the crowd favorite Carnitas slowly simmered for 4 hours. They have the space for large gatherings under the cool Cabo night sky. Book your reservation and be sure to come hungry. Insider’s Tip- Save room for their fantastic fresh made desserts but realize it may have to be to go.

Cocina & Bar by Cabo Bakery is raising the bar on what a bakery can offer. They expanded from their original and still worthy Cabo Bakery at Plaza de Pioneros in downtown to their new location on the other side of the plaza. The ever evolving menu includes the freshest daily baked breads, wood burning pizza oven and a wide selection of salads and fresh sandwiches. The dinner menu has wide variety and many new items each visit. The owner Marcos brings his German sensibility and focus on service to this great bistro style restaurant and he is a daily fixture. They feature live dj’s, rock and jazz music and even stand up comics so you never know what may be happening. Insider’s Tip- the daily baked sour dough is the best in Cabo and has a constant presence in our home.

La Lupita Tacos y Mezcal is a fun place to scarf down gourmet tacos and sip some strong Mezcal. Two of our favorite things. This lively and colorful restaurant started in San Jose and expanded to Cabo two years ago. Lucky for us as we are big fans of their tacos and Mezcal. The hand made tortillas come in multiple styles and colors and are specifically designed for the long list of delicious tacos. Their focus on freshness and taste earned them one of the top five tacos in Cabo by Cabosfinest. The waiters really know their mezcals so be sure to try them in their traditionally Joven or young style. Insider’s Tip- be sure to try the crispy salted grasshoppers with your Mezcal.

El Peregrino Restaurant and Bar is one of our go to places for casual, delicious dining. They designed a comfortable bistro style for this family run establishment. Just a few blocks north of the marina with daily specials and a well priced bar combined with easy parking and friendly service makes for a winning combination. We enjoy their classic rock music, sports and slow cooked pork ribs which is my normal order. Sandra loves the Asian tuna tartar. They also feature a Lamb dish, Jumbo Shrimp Fettuccini, Argentinean Cut (Vacio), and Steak Fajitas. Oakley is welcome and is attentive for any extra ribs that may accidentally come his way. Insider’s Tip- the Cuban sandwich is the best in town.

Salvatore G’s restaurant is a warm and friendly Italian restaurant located in the Siesta Suites courtyard. Known for their family sized portions which makes for great leftovers or just share an entree. Their specialties are Pork Porketa slow cooked over 14 hours then braised. Their Mammas Gravy combines porketa, garlic sausage and huge meatballs and will fill the hungriest patron. The Tony Saprano is also popular. Daily specials and a full bar are offered for dinner. The upstairs loft has a cool palapa and view to the courtyard below. Insider’s Tip- their Tiramisu can be shared by 4 people and makes everyone happy.

JM Steakhouse is a welcome new addition to Cabo; a great place for dinner with amazing food, and a place to linger and enjoy music in a warm, welcoming setting. You’ll feel right at home as you dine while listening to an array of jazz standards. This combination makes for a perfect evening out on the town. Jimmy Maddin is the owner and head chef and the one time Executive Chef at Caesars Palace. He’s prepared meals for countless celebrities, royalty, and global icons over the years. This is a classic Italian Steak House so be prepared for some wonderful cuts of steak plus pasta and seafood.

Finally we finish with RosaNegra the newest restaurant. This high concept restaurant brings great culinary options with impeccable service, fun atmosphere and nightly entertainment plus plenty of gorgeous people enjoying the Cabo vibe. Located just 4 miles east of downtown Cabo. The company behind this also recently opened Taboo, Mazzamita’s and the Funky Geisha. Insiders tip- plan for a long night of festivities and linger over their amazing appetizers and custom cocktails.

In today’s episode we bring you the top ten new condo projects in Cabo San Lucas. There are new condos going up everywhere. We bring you the cream of the crop in a variety of price points. Las Cascadas at Pedregal

In today’s episode, we bring you ten of the most essential restaurants in San Jose del Cabo. No trip to Los Cabos is complete without visiting the charming colonial town of San Jose. With so many amazing dining options, not to mention the great street food and small taquerías on which to choose, narrowing this list was not easy. We decided to omit any resort restaurants. One of the great things about Los Cabos is how safe and approachable the area is for exploring. So be sure to venture beyond Cabo San Lucas and the gates of your resort to fully get the true feel of this wonderful destination.

First up is Los Tamarindos.
Located in a 19th century farmhouse, Los Tamarindos is the original organic farm-to-table restaurant. The menu is ever changing by the seasonal crops growing in the fields surrounding the restaurant, with head chef Enrique Silva following recipes from a variety of regions and generations.The restaurant’s meat and fish options are seasonal and full of freshness; the fish is hand-selected and the chicken comes from its own farm-reared flock of Cornish hens. The bar is fully equipped so come early and stay late.Also opt for one of Los Tamarindos’s popular cooking classes, held in the restaurant’s adjoining kitchen terrace.

Habañeros Bistro
Long a best-kept secret by locals, Habanero’s Gastro Grill & Tequila Bar offers gourmet Mexican fusion cuisine at affordable prices. For 16 years this restaurant by accclaimed chef owner Tad Chapman has prospered. Chef Tadd is involved in 3 restaurants and spends a great amount of his time at Habaneros where he has been able to express his Mexican Fusion style with a focus on fresh seafood and the grill. A recent move to the courtyard at El Encanto Inn gave them more space and a great location on the heart of Centro Art District. The newest partner Miguel Guerrero was welcomed aboard as they begin this new stage. It is great to see all the original waiters, bartenders and servers who bring knowledge and smiles to your breakfast, lunch and candlelit dinners.

Next up we bring you H Bistro–
Also located within the Historic Centro Art District H Bistro has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. H Bistro is a recently remodeled and historic art gallery. They kept the lovely brick walls for a lovely European bistro style. H BISTRO is the perfect blend of refinement and relaxation. People feel comfortable and content, and at the same time, share the bold flavors and fresh ingredients that we love.H BISTRO’s Cuisine is a creative blend of international offerings. An extensive wine list and a romantic, refined atmosphere make H BISTRO an outstanding choice for a special dinner. Chef Herrera created many private as well as club events for the many famous personalities who regularly visit Los Cabos as the executive chef at Querencia and Club Ninety Six at Palmilla. If there is a local watering hole in downtown San José del Cabo it’s La Lupita, a joyously colorful cantina with a serious mezcal list and the best al pastor tacos in town. Grab a seat on the outdoor patio, and order a flight of mezcal, which comes with three pours served in traditional jicaras, the hollowed out gourds used for sipping mezcal. With a prime location in the historic centro this fun filled spot has a wide variety of delicious tacos. Recently chosen as one of the five best tacos in Los Cabos. Panazia Cocina Mexiatica is a newer option at a great location where La Panga used to be right across from the old Mission Church on the Zocalo. A fresh take on Mexican Asian fusion which presents a nice option for those looking for variety. Start off with oysters on the half shell or a variety dumplings. Second course of salads then wontons with crab, yummy. I often enjoy their spicy Mongolian Beef or fried rice offerings plus chow menu noodles. They feature a nice Peking duck which is hard to find south of the border. Chef Paul and Chef Zamudio bring their creative best at this second location of Panazia Cocina Mexiatica.

Next up we are taking a little road trip out to the east Cape for some seriously great sushi.

Zai’s Sushi Surf Bar is a super chill new restaurant about 25 minutes east of San Jose. Well worth the scenic drive. Be sure to make reservations as this is a favorite spot for surfers, off roaders and adventurers. They bring some excellent flavors to their wide variety of sushi, ceviche, salads and rice dishes. Excellent selection of adult beverages as well. Be sure to plan a visit on your next East Cape exploration. Insider’s Tip bring some apples to feed the local burros and a cooler full of your favorite beverages and stop at any of the endless beaches for the day.

Flora’s Farm is a world unto itself.

What started off as a 25 acre organic farm has turned into one of the most sought after experiences in Mexico. Flora’s Field Kitchen is the nucleus of this vision. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in the middle of the garden makes the farm to table concept extra fast and fresh. The day begins hours before dawn as the staff begin baking the breads, harvesting the crops and preparing the menu for the days guests, the owners and all the private events and high society weddings that may occur on any given day.

The harvesting of the greens continues throughout the day. All meats served at Flora’s Field Kitchen come from their nearby 150-acre ranch where animals are humanely raised on diets that do not include hormones or antibiotics. The experience gives you the feeling of wellness and balance that is incorporated into their menu and way of life. It is actually a simple formula, combine hand made food using farm fresh ingredients.

And moving on we go next door to Acre. This 25 acre destination is best described as an oasis where urban sensibility meets organic farm in the Baja. The heart and soul of this is the award winning project is the restaurant and bar. Executive Chef Larbi brings an elegant yet simple style that focuses on the organic produce. The vibrant atmosphere of the jungle combined with the music of their in-house DJ and the inventive cocktails of their mixologists creates a unique dining experience in the foothills of the Sierra de la Lagunas. Taking a que from their famous sister bar Keefer in Vancouver they have elevated this experience with a Mexican twist. The folks at Acre have a deep understanding of the nuances of Mezcal and their private label selection is on display on the rooftop tasting area. They recently added a second breakfast and lunch restaurant called Fausto’s Cafe.
